Full time course for young people at St Thomas More High School
This is a concept-led course developed to meet the needs of students seeking a deeper understanding of basic scientific ideas. The course focuses on scientific explanations and models, and gives students an insight into how scientists develop scientific understanding of ourselves and the world we inhabit.
Students take a total of five units. Unit 1 covers: Homeostasis, Chemical Patterns, and Explaining Motion. Unit 2 covers: Growth and Development, Chemicals of the Natural Environment, and Electric Circuits. Unit 3 covers: Brain and Mind, Chemical Synthesis, and The Wave Model of Radiation. Unit 4 is Ideas in Context and Unit 5 is a Practical Investigation.
